THE POWER OF LEGACY
SEEDS OF GRACE (Daily Devotional)
MONDAY, 12TH DECEMBER 2016.
TOPIC: THE POWER OF LEGACY
SCRIPTURE: A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and
the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just -- Proverbs 13:22
MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 25:5
DIGGING DEEP: Every generation is a seed of the previous generation, so therefore there's a link between the former and the later. What the present generation does influences the future ones both positively and negatively. That is one reason we must live circumspectively so that we live a valuable posterity for the future. You must create a solid foundation for the next generation to build upon. Life is too short to think short and do things without sense of responsibility and it's consequences. Our text says that "Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the
sinner's wealth passes to the godly (New Living Translation). It implies that a good person I) Affects the next generation for good. II) A good person has something he gives to generations to enjoy.
What legacy can you leave for your next generation to enjoy?
1) SPIRITUAL LEGACY: We must see to it that the next generation are properly led and guided to living their lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Loving the Lord with the whole of their heart, soul, mind and strength. It is an assignment that the next generation learn from you reverence for the Scripture as being from God himself, plus the example of a man and a woman who consistently studied and applied the truths of the Bible. They must bare a memory of a praying father/mother, who for the most part was quite comfortable in God’s presence.
If we don't live it we can't command it. We must rise up to make a change.
2) FINANCIAL LEGACY: We must live great financial legacy for our children. Teach them money skills, teach them how to love God with their tithes offerings. Teach them investment, business skills and many more this plus the favour and power of God will break generational poverty line. Do all you can legally and by the help of God to create financial rest for yourself and the next generation. Bible said when Abraham was old and was to die he gave gifts to his other children and sent them to different places but for Issac he gave all he had ( Genesis 25:5-6).
3) CHARACTER LEGACY: Many father's and mother's today are lacken in character and we see it already replicating in their children. Proverb 22:1 says that "A good name is better than money, favour is better than silver and gold". God can bless you financially but it is your responsibility to guide your life through character.
4) LEGACY OF EDUCATION: Proverbs 17:16 says "It does a fool no good to spend money on an education, because he has no common sense" (Good News Translation). When we educate the next generation we are giving them common sense and a refined mind. So they can fire for the stars.
I pray for you that God will give you the grace to live a life full of great legacies in Jesus' name.
PRAYER: 1) My Father all the seeds you have given me and the ones you are going to give me, help me to command them after you in Jesus' name.
2) O Lord help me to live a mark on the sand of time that generations coming will follow in Jesus' name.
