PRESSING INTO THE FUTURE
SEEDS OF GRACE (Daily Devotional)
WEDNESDAY, 28TH DECEMBER 2016.
TOPIC: PRESSING INTO THE FUTURE
SCRIPTURE: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. -- Isaiah 43:18
MEMORY VERSE: Philippians 3:13
DIGGING: No new start if there is not an end. No promotion if you haven't concluded the class you are. Conclusion is the mother of another level. Some people cling to the past and make it a stronghold in their lives. For instance because someone was jilted in his/her past relationship instead of moving on and pressing into the future the person holds on to it and never let go.
If you don't stop camping in your past, soon you will become a past tense.
Two keys is a) Forget the past; b) Press for the future.
Pressing for the future means to purposefully applying force overcome the obstacles around. "Since the day of John the Baptist the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence and the violent takes it by force."
THREE FORCES YOU NEED IN PRESSING FOR THE FUTURE:
1) God Yielding- This is important to do regularly because He knows and holds the future. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV). Gods plans includes everything for your life. It is for welfare not a future of warfare.
2) Correct Understanding- Tomorrow will be full of unanswerable questions if we don't have good understanding of the future. Our future is what we are talking about today.
3) Plan Making- God has a plan for us and has given us a little work to do also. This is called planning. Plan gives direction and insight. Plan to know Gods heart from His word, plan to pray and hear Him, plan to dare for new things, plan to dream and dream big.
Remember the past is not good enough for you.
PRAYER: I refuse to be held down by my past I press into my future in Jesus' name.
QUOTES: The past is a carcass of questions, the future is a body of answers -- Dr Joel Dabbas
