THE POWER OF INTERCESSION
TOPIC: THE POWER OF INTERCESSION
SCRIPTURE: Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant- Genesis 25:21
KEY THOUGHT: Intercession triggers intervention.
Fact is there are issues in our lives that might remain unless there is an intervention. There are things that might never change unless another man speaks on your behalf. When men who have spiritual authority speaks over your life there must be a change.
Isaac a prodigy of Abraham, an heir of the blessing and a carrier of God's irrevoacable generational covenant had barreness in his house. His wife couldn't take in then he went before the Lord to pray and talk to God on her behalf. I am sure he said if barreness attacked my mother, it can't survive in my house. The king James Bible stated that "Isaac entreated of the Lord for his wife for she was barren." The implication of Rebecca been barren was enormous:
a. It meant that the transgenerational blessings God gave to His father Abraham and unto him was under attack: There are issues trying to negate the promises of God in your life. For instance God said your family will be great and relevant but instead of that you notice the opposite. You don't need to sit there and analyse with the devil why it is like that. You have to get up and pray. Tell that devil, God's promises will never elude me.
b. It meant that generational occurrence of barreness was winning: His mother Sarah was also barren until God intervened at the age of ninety (90) she was able to bear a child. This transgenerational syndrome was hunting his family too just as it did to his parents but Isaac got up to address it in the place of prayer.
c. It meant that they would have to wait unnecessarily for a long time for this miracle: Beloved, do you know that there is a miracle just close by only if you can pray? Some people are waiting unnecessarily for a miracle they can make happen if only they could go before the Lord and pray.
The word entreat in our anchor Scripture means to give an invite, to violently harass, to disturb continously until there is an answer.
Scripture says that from the days of John the Baptist the Kingdom of God suffered violence and the violent takes it by force. So Isaac bombarded heaven with prayers until he got what he wanted.
I remember years ago a beloved brother was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. When the news got to us in church we were touched and everyone was perplexed. But we interceded, prayed earnestly and presented his case before the throne of Grace. That week he walked out of the hospital with new kidneys. It was possible because people dropped their issues and carried the pain of another to the Lord.
Job interceeded for his friends and God had mercy upon them (Job 42:8-10).
Isaac prayed for his wife and barreness was arrested and buried. After that prayer God blessed them with Jacob and the generation after him never battled with barreness again. I mean that barrenes was never an issue again because someone dared to pray.
Beloved a husband, wife or friend who can pray to God on your behalf is a blessing. Today be a blessing, get up and interceed unbehalf of your family, your country and many other things you are led to pray for, i am sure you will get unimaginable supernatural intervention in Jesus' Name.
