SEEDS OF GRACE (Daily Devotional)
SUNDAY, 25TH DECEMBER 2016.
TOPIC: CHARACTERISTICS OF CHRISTMAS
SCRIPTURE: Luke 2:9-12 (KJV)
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 2:10
DIGGING: Every event is characterized by certain things. That is what makes it thick. Christmas is the celebration of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His birth was the fulfilment of prophecy and the restoration of mankind into Godkind. Five profound characteristics of Christmas are:
1) ANGELIC/HEAVENLY PRESENCE ON EARTH: "And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them..." Angels are special messengers who brings answers to our prayers, they defend us against satanic warfare and brings good news of Gods doing to us. The birth of Jesus opened heavens door to humanity.
2) REVELATION OF GODS GLORY: "and the glory of the Lord shone round about them..." Glory is the splendour and beauty of God. The birth of Jesus brought us out of every form of ugliness that the devil brought on man. Now we are meant to shine in life.
3) GOOD NEWS: "I bring you good tidings..." Life outside our Lord Jesus is full of bad news. But in Christ Jesus good news is the regular order.
4) ERADICATION OF FEAR: "And the angel said unto them, Fear not..." The devil rule humanity by the instrument of fear and through this put man under captivity but the coming of Jesus end satanic cycle of fear and captivity.
5) OUTBURST OF JOY AND CELEBRATION: "I bring you...great joy." Joy and celebration is what Jesus brought to us. Every gloominess and sadness was handled by His arrival.
The truth is every believer (one in which Christ is born in) is meant to experience this five things. I pray for you that you experience these characteristics of His birth to is in Jesus' name. Merry Christmas.
PRAYER: O Lord let me experience all your birth brought in Jesus' name.
