THE WISDOM OF WATCHING

SEEDS OF GRACE  (Daily Devotional)
MONDAY, 26TH DECEMBER 2016.

TOPIC: THE WISDOM OF WATCHING
SCRIPTURE: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak -- Matthew 26:41
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 26:40

DIGGING: Jesus never let us out on practical winning tools. One of it is "watch and pray". This means that:--
1) Prayers might not be complete if watching is not engaged.
2) Prayers alone can't fight temptation it needs a practical practice of watching.
3) Watching and prayer does not always move God’s arm to physically deliver us from the trials we face, but He always strengthens us to face the temptation and remain faithful.
4) Until watching and praying becomes habitual overcoming temptation is impossible.
5) Watching and praying primes our flesh and lifts us beyond the laggy lazy and weak state of the flesh into the willing state of the spirit.
Watching keeps our flesh and spirit in line with God. It keeps us in perfect alignment with Him. God does not want us to be carefree but expects us to be careful. Many people walk with the mentality that when "they sin God will forgive them, hence they keep sinning." The fact is that God will forgive you and He isn't tired of that but the truth is that you won't have a winning record and only winners receive crown hence you are at a risk of loosing God.
To watch is to be awake and aware in the Spirit. God wants our spirit man to be alive and active. So it means that prayer is both physical and spiritual. The stirring up of your giftings, sensitivity and insight lies in watching and praying.
HOW TO EFFECTIVELY WATCH
1) KNOWLEDGE: You can't effectively watch and pray if you lack knowledge on what you are to watch. Two types of knowledge are a) what to watch for and what to watch against. That means watching can combative effect or for protective effect either of it is empowered by knowledge. Don't be ignorant of satans tricks stand up and be firm.
I see you winning in Jesus name.

PRAYER: O Lord I recieve the grace to be careful in prayer and watching in Jesus' name.

QUOTES: Until you are deliberate, you can't celebrate -- Dr Joel Dabbas
